Exploitation Awareness/Dirty Dozen List

The biggest barrier to ending sexual exploitation and abuse (aside from evil or apathetic individuals who deliberately participate or who allow it to continue) is spreading awareness. Sometimes it's not that people don't care, it's that they don't know or realize how prevalent the issue is, until it happens to them or someone they care about. It should not be normal.

In the spirit of SA/DV awareness month, in addition to encouraging people to share their individual stories, I would also personally encourage everyone to check out the following link from NCOSE. There's a lot of excellent information available, especially on the "dirty dozen" list which is very helpful and that can enable people to make real changes. There are also stories of real victories there that prove it does matter, even though it feels impossible sometimes.

It's easy to get discouraged, but fighting back does matter, especially when it comes to protecting human dignity and safety online. Little by little, a water droplet cuts through stone.
